Sala Cafe open at Last!!

The opening of the Sala Cafe on Feb 20thwas a great success. With a colourful array of the new deserts and lots of friendly faces, we enjoyed celebrating the start of a new journey. The free tasters dissapeared rather quickly and so the afternoon was spent enjoying the new space to relax with friends. The passion fruit Cheesecake is set to be a favourite and many a person has already popped in for an afternoon slice. Bringing some new flavours to Thong Nai Pan, Gordon has created a menu featuring many a favourite and some interesting new things to try too.

The venue in the centre of Thong Nai Pan Noi, Koh Phangan, has proved a success, and with the open air and comfywicker chairs its the perfect place to while away an afternoon with a good book or good conversation. Being central in the village it is great for people watching and a nice place to take a desert and coffee after dinner. Unfortunately we are not selling food in the evenings however there are many other Thong Nai Pan restaurants serving dinner including Luna Loungejust down the road. Luna and now Sala too seem to be favoured by a lot of people staying in the Thong Nai Pan hotels and resorts and we regularly get complimented on the standard of the food and the general all round experience.

Sala Cafe is open everyday from 10am till late in the evening serving breakfasts and Lunch’s. Luna Lounge is open 6.30pm till late for dinner’s and both places have a selection of our new mouth-watering desserts.

Luna Cafe Opening Feb 14th!!!

We are happy to finally anounce the opening of  the Luna Cafe! We have a great location in the centre of  Thong Nai Pan Noi opposite the Jungle Bar which over the next few weeks we will be transforming into another great place to eat scrumptious foods and sit about chatting over coffees. We will be doing a delicious brunch menu featuring homemade breads, (I’m sure some of you will remember the sandwiches we were selling at Luna for a short while last year,)  salads and a fantastic selection of deserts and mixed fruit shakes with as always our own Luna twist. After having many a complaint that we are not open during the day, we are now creating the perfect day time chill out spot with all the great flavours of Luna and a new menu to boot! We will be opening on Febuary the 14th so make your lover’s Valentine’s Day by treating them with a new Luna desert or even just a great cup of coffee (no nescafe in sight).

Other things on in Koh Phangan at the moment are the Flair cocktail shows over on Thong Nai Pan Yai. Central Cottage Resort has had the winners of ‘06 and ‘07  Flair Bartending championship perform twice now on the beach outside their restaurant and hope to make it a regular event with the Champion of Asia coming to perform too. So far both men have been fantastic to watch as they spun alight bottles through  the air, juggling and drawing in the sand with fire. Along with fantastic local fire spinner Zin (who is also a regular to perform at Luna parties and also Rasananda) and cheap deals on cocktails, it makes for a great evening out.

Christmas and New Years at Luna…

Hey all,

Well here in Thong Nai Pan we have been enjoying the festive season. The beach has been packed with plenty going on to keep people busy. With tremendous fireworks across the beaches and live fire shows we decided not to put on any events on christmas day and new years assuming people would want to be on the beach. However on the 28th we had a great turn out for DJ’s Birthday, enjoying an amazing pig roast and some fantastic music from up and coming DJ’s.

The Full moon as ever has been a huge one! With new years and the full moon coinciding Koh Phangan has had the thousands arriving on its shores for a splendid start to 2010. For many it is the busiest they have ever seen the island. Lets hope it’s a sign of things to come and the year ahead continues to be a busy and enjoyable one on Ko Phangan.

At Luna we have been busy getting ready for the new year with an exciting new project in the works and an incredibly talented new member of staff on the way! We are also introducing our new cocktail menu with some delicious new things to try! With the restaurant filling up each night we have met some lovely new faces and have even had the odd night where we have sadly had to turn people away. The high season has certainly started on a high and although many people will be heading home after their festive break we are confident we will remain busy and hopefully now have space for all that want to come and enjoy the Luna food!

Leaving on a Jet Plane – back in action Dec 1st

Hi everybody – apologies to those of you who tried to come for dinner on the 1st. Due to staff issues we’re delaying opening for the season until the 4th, when all staff members will be present and correct.

Look forward to seeing you for dinner soon.

Kung and Nat

It’s been a fantastic season at Luna Koh Phangan. We’ve had a great time, met some wonderful, lovely people and continued to enjoy what we do. With the rains come a break for us, and we will be heading back to the UK to enjoy some family time and for Kung to put on his yearly art show. Luna will be open until October 31st.

We’ll be back in action December 1st for what promises to be a fantastic Luna Christmas season on Thong Nai Pan. We’ll be joined by Rowena, our superstar manager who recently graced the front cover of Asia Spa. Well done Ro.

Welcome to Luna Lounge

Breaking News…

We at Luna Lounge are delighted to announce that our new executive chef Antonia Stock will be joining us from the 6th of February.  Antonia is a talented chef with experience working in the US, Uk, America and Australia.  She will be creating a fantastic new menu of her own which we will launch with an amazing evening of Luna style and entertainment.  Watch this space……

Luna Lounge Bar and Restaurant is a family restaurant with a difference. It combines perfectly the laidback vibe that visitors to Thailand love, with a fantastic global menu and spectacular Thai cuisine. Its comfy sofas, chilled ambience and eclectic décor have been charming customers since its opening in 2007 and its fantastic location on Thong Nai Pan Noi, described as “the jewel of Koh Pha Ngan” is unsurpassed in the south of Thailand.

Owners British-Thai couple Nat and Kung have between them many years culinary experience both in Thailand and around the world. Together they have created the unique and exciting Luna Lounge. Prepare to have your senses assailed by dishes as varied as Spicy Red Aubergine Curry, Spiced Moroccan Lamb, Grilled Cubano Sandwich, and house speciality: freshly-cut French fries drizzled with truffle oil and parmesan shavings.

Every plate comes from a wealth of cooking experience on four continents. And is brought to fruition by the skill and love of all members of the family, from Pi Piows slow-cooked southern masaman curry, to Nat’s Californian Artichoke Dip. Add to that the big, comfy sofas, great music and fantastic cocktails – taking their inspiration from bars as far-flung as New York and London – and you have something that is truly special.
